Enrichment Opportunities

In addition to our classes and productions, Studio Z strives to offer different opportunities for students to enrich their theatre knowledge and skills by participating in a variety of events both professional and non-professional.  Below are some of the events that have been offered.  Keep checking back for upcoming opportunities!

Geva Theatre: The Diary of Anne Frank

Our students saw a special matinee performance followed by a talk back with a holocaust survivor.

Fundraiser at Frontier Field

Staff and parents volunteered their time to work the HomePlate stand at Frontier Field while students enjoyed a Red Wings game at a discounted rate.  All tips received during our shift were directly donated to Studio Z.  We raised over $700 - a ball park record for a non-profit group!

Geva Theatre Peformance: Little Shop of Horrors

Studio Z Mainstage students were able to collaborate and perform in this musical production on Geva's Fielding stage with Dangerous Signs, a local theatre group of deaf and hearing impaired actors.  Click HERE to see photos and videos

NYC Excursion

Two busloads full of students from Studio Z traveled to NYC for a one-day excursion that included a performance of School of Rock along with a talk-back after the show and an autograph and photo op with some of the cast.  Other Broadway excursions included performances of The Prom, Frozen, and Hamilton.

Geva Theatre Career Day

Every spring Geva provides 10th-12th grade students from schools around the Greater Rochester area with an extensive backstage tour of the theatre, and then a question and answer session with a panel of employees from their various departments.

Broadway Shows at RBTL

Studio Z offers group rate tickets to touring Broadway productions at the Rochester Broadway Theatre League's Auditorium Theatre.  A few of the incredible productions that students and their families have enjoyed include Rent, School of Rock, Wicked, The Lion King, Come From Away, and Waitress which even featured Tessa, the 4 year old daughter of our Executive Director, in the role of Lulu!
